Istanbul
Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque
One of the best examples of Byzantine architecture, built as a principal church (cathedral) between 532 - 537 in Constantinople, now known as Istanbul, after the Ottoman Empire conquered it in 1453, turning Hagia Sophia into a mosque. It is best known for its main dome, which was meant to look as if it were suspended by the heavens.

Basilica Cistern
Built in the 6th century, it is the largest of many cisterns housed under the city of Istanbul. The Medusa heads as columns were a great architectural choice in my eyes.
The City
Istanbul is a vibrant city with many cultures and ideologies mixing together. Each area has a distinct atmosphere. A week is not enough to experience all of it.
